The technical program committee for Workshop for Power-Line Communications 2016 (WSPLC 2016), held at Ecole Polytechnique in France on October 10-11 2016, has published the event program – and what a thrilling program it is.
This years edition of WSPLC will retain its traditional strong position in the “physical layers” with advanced channel characterization, spectrum management and MAC protocols for PLC – but will, also, “move up the protocol stack” with a whole session dedicated for routing, metrics, and general layer-3 aspects, as well as sessions on applications and on simulation and texting. In all, a very well rounded scientific and technical program.
WSPLC 2016 also offers participants the ability to attend one of two technical visits proposed . The first technical, proposed by ENEDIS, is an immersion into the main french distribution service operator’s technical challenges taking place in “Espace Grenelle” (in the center of Paris). Take a look at the official presentation of this facility.
The second technical visit, held in parallel with the visit at ENEDIS, consists of discovering the EDF R&D departments activities, by way of a guided visit of a showroom (in Saclay) dedicated to the research activities of the group, including but not limited to smart grids.
A Galla dinner is organized at the in downtown Paris, at the historic Maison des Polytechniciens. More information is available here.
If you are a student, WSPLC offer also a student challenge, in partnership with our sponsors. The topic is “hybrid G3-PLC/radio solutions and associated applications” and student participants will be offered tutorials on LoRa, PLC, and grid applications, as well as mentorship by seasoned industry professionals while working in small (international) teams on developing ground-breaking applications, tools, and systems, for the Smart Grid, Smart Cities, etc. Check out the detailed information about this event and sign up! You need not be French, or in France, by the way.
